After the first months with my horns.. (Oris Horns)
Hello all together..
The first jear with my Oris horns is nearly gone, and listening to them is still a great fun
But in the last months i found some little things to work out, now it´s all done.
Here are some pictures:
A little more to do inside my amplifier:
I changed some resistors, put some JAHRE silver-micas and MKP1837 inside, new MILLS MRA-12 resistors for the kathodes, and some other small things.
The 82µF-VISATON elkos (for the horns) are gone, new Mundorf elkos (47+33µF + Jahre silver mica 89900pf) are working much better there now.
I think the next step is a change to Lowther drivers, the Fostex are the weak points now i think:confused: Maybe next time.
That´s all for now, have fun and best regards:bey:

After the first months with my horns..
Hello Ralph,
Thanks for the update...you're a busy man!
Glad to read that you are still enjoying the music in between tweaks.
Another next step could be to add a tweeter (like the Fostex FT17H) to get some more freshness off-axis with the 206's...?

After the first months with my horns..
Hello Bert..
Thanks
I never thought about tweeters, ok the sweet-point is not so big, but thats no problem, this room is only for music-listening, and only one chair (the master-chair ).
My dream is still a pair of Lowther drivers, or is that a wrong way for a step-up?
Regards, Ralph (not busy today )
Nothing wrong with that...

This doesGC't mean that you should not experiment...

Nothing wrong with that from which the DX2 or PM6C's already do several things better than the 206's...

Thanks for your advice Bert:ok:
I think the Lowthers are a better choice, in my opinion the horns were built for Lowthers, not for the Fostex. Please correct me if i am wrong with that.
So everything with the Fostex looks a little like a compromise.
For the first time the Fostex are ok, they work well, but it´s in my mind: "Get Lowther, get them!"
Are there big diffrences between the DX2 and the PM6C?
Regards, Ralph

The Fostex is a nice driver to start with if you are on a budget...many things can be improved here!
Are there big differences between the DX2 and the PM6C?
Between the standard drivers there are a few major differences. It does not show on the Thiele-Small parameters but the materials used sound different.
Think Ferrite versus Neodymium, big sized magnet versus small, white paper versus yellow paper...

Hello Bert..
Of course your are right:wink: , i don´t know all those Lowther-secrets at this time, but i found some informations in the web, very nice stuff!
The PM6Cs are on top of my list! By the way, did they need any crossover-parts?
Regards, Ralph
Nothing wrong with that...
Hi Ralph,
...did they need any crossover-parts?
Basically not but if you want to play very loud (at low frequencies) then you'll need to cross them to protect the driver against damaging due to too much excursion...
