Quasar mk1 filter (BD-Design)

Hello,

I've been toying arouns with my various AER drivers in OB. I liked the AER Mk1 quite a bit, the STAMM re-cones lowthers sonded pretty good, but I really have a soft spot for the AER BD-1 in open baffles.

I am very curious to try the Quasar Mk1 (a friend is willing to lend me his Supravox 285 for some experiments. I'm trying to figure out the component values and design of the Quasar mk1 filter on the 285.

My understanding is that the AER will run fullrange and the 285 compensates for baffle step. Can anyone indicate the way to build this filter?

It is a simple 1st order serial filter using a 12mH coil (low resistance!) and a 100uF capacitor. You might need a notch to tame the high frequencies though, here is a schematic for the notch:

Thanks for the info Bert.
I don't feel, for the moment, that the BD-1 needs a notch filter.
On the other hand, is it possible that this filter changes the QTS and/or pads down the efficiency of the AER?

Hi Daze,

If you do not feel the need then no need to change anything...
