Hallo, I plan a Oris 150 System.
I can buy a used pair of Lowther PM6C from a friend of mine to the same price as a new pair of fostex FE206E. Which driver makes the better Job in the Oris 150? Have you got a frequency response from these drivers in the Oris 150?
MfG, Marcel

Oris 150 with FE206E or Lowhter PM6C?

by Bert @, Saturday, May 06, 2006, 07:09 (6568 days ago) @ Marcel

Hi Marcel,

I can buy a used pair of Lowther PM6C from a friend of mine to the same
price as a new pair of fostex FE206E. Which driver makes the better Job in
the Oris 150?

The Lowther will perform better in dynamics and clarity, the Fostex is more linear at the highest frequencies. For me the Lowther would be the better one.

Have you got a frequency response from these drivers in the Oris 150?

I do not have any frequency plots for these drivers used in the Oris horns.

Ciao,

Bert

The the Fostex is more linear at the highest frequencies.

Only more linear or goes the fostex higher up?

And I have heard about the "Lowther-shout" in the middle.
In the Oris 150 too?

Hi Marcel,

Only more linear or goes the fostex higher up?

On axis the Fostex is going higher and more linear but off-axis the Fostex drops like a rock above 8kHz. A Lowther will still produce good output up to 13-15kHz.

And I have heard about the "Lowther-shout" in the middle. In the Oris 150 too?

All Oris horns are the cure for that shout...

I agree. I used my PM6C in backloaded horns first and they had a midrange shout. I use them in fronthorns now (not Oris, but DIY) and that changes the frequency balance, so there is no more shout.

I have also heard Oris horns (4 systems, 3 in Bert's showroom, 1 in an "independent" private home), there was *never* any shout.

Ivo

Hello,
thanks for the answers!
I think the PM6C are the better drivers for me!

Hello, do you think the Lowther PM6C in combination with the Oris150 will be better in the higher frquencies with your new phase plugs?

Hi Marcel,

Hello, do you think the Lowther PM6C in combination with the Oris 150 will be better in the higher frquencies with your new phase plugs?

Yes they will be better, especially in the higher frequencies!
