I would say the midrange is a bit more (BD-Design)

I don't detect any drawbacks to the "imaging" or clarity of the midrange.
Are you playing the bass without any crossover now so that you can still hear all music coming from the BD15 when you disconnect the top horns?
...or did you only remove the passive crossover between the bass amplifier and the BD15?
